Bernadette Lahai Refuses To Recognise Chief Kapen

Since Chief Somano Kapen and his new set of National Officers were elected in Bo, last month, the party’s Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Dr. Bernadette Lahai has still not found time to congratulate them.

Many party members and supporters would have expected that, out of courtesy, the party’s Minority Leader and the party’s Parliamentary Group should have paid a courtesy call on the new national executive and pledge their support and loyalty to them.

One of the newly elected national officers noted that, during the convention in Bo, Dr. Bernadette Lahai was behaving like a Polling Agent for Ambassador Allie Bangura.

Since their election in Bo, last month, Chief Somano Kapen and his new executive have received a flurry of congratulatory messages from diplomats, ruling party politicians, journalists and business people.

So, many people are wondering why, the party’s Minority Leader in Parliament has still not led her colleagues in Parliament to congratulate Chief Kapen and his new executive.

A serving Member of Parliament from Kenema district, observed that, it was a failure of leadership on the part of Dr. Bernadette Lahai not to have congratulated the party’s new National Chairman/Leader and other newly elected national officers. Dr. Bernadette Lahai was not available last night to comment on the issue.

Meanwhile, the party’s National Secretary General, Sulaiman Banja Tejan-Sie confirmed last night that, he was not aware of any official congratulatory message that had come from the party’s Parliamentary Group.
